Privacy and cookies policy

Last updated: 6th October 2026

This page explains what personal data we collect when you visit ioteq.co or contact us through it, why we collect it, who else handles it and what you can do about it. It covers this website only. When we handle personal data for a client as part of a project, the contract for that project sets out how we do it.

Who we are

Ioteq Software is the trading name of Septillion Technologies Limited, a company registered in Scotland (company number SC566328) with its registered office at Kinburn Castle, St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland, KY16 9DR.

If you have a question about this policy or about your data, email privacy@ioteq.co or write to us at the address above.

When you contact us

If you send us a message through the contact form, we collect what you put in it: your name, email address, company name, phone number if you give one, and your message.

We use it to reply to you. If the conversation turns into a project, we also use it to prepare a proposal and to set up the work. We won’t add you to a mailing list, and we won’t contact you about anything other than your enquiry unless you ask us to. We need your details to answer a message you chose to send. Where you’re asking about working with us, it’s also to take steps you’ve asked for before entering into a contract.

The form sends your message to our email account, provided by 20i, and stores a copy in our website’s database, hosted by 20i.

We keep enquiries for up to two years after our last contact with you, then delete them. If you become a client, we keep the records of our work together for as long as the contract needs and then for as long as the law requires us to keep business records, which is usually six years.

Please don’t send us sensitive information, such as health details, through the form. We don’t need it to reply.

When you browse the site

Google Analytics

If you agree to analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site: which pages they visit, how long they stay, how they arrived, what kind of device and browser they use, and roughly where they are, to the level of a town or country.

Google Analytics works out your approximate location from your IP address and then discards the address. It doesn’t store it. We can’t identify you from the reports we see, and we don’t try to.

We’ve switched off Google’s advertising features and Google signals, and we don’t let Google use our analytics data for its own products or for advertising. Analytics data is kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically.

If you don’t accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics doesn’t load at all, and nothing about the site changes for you.

Server logs

Like most websites, ours is hosted on a server that records basic technical details of each request: the IP address, browser, date and time, and the page asked for. Our host, 20i keeps these logs for 30 days to keep the site secure and working.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use two kinds.

CookieSet byWhat it doesHow long it lastsType
cookie_consentioteq.coRemembers whether you accepted or refused analytics cookies12 monthsStrictly necessary
_gaGoogle AnalyticsTells one visitor apart from another2 yearsAnalytics, set only with consent
_ga_G-SGZM8V3ZXNGoogle AnalyticsKeeps track of your current visit2 yearsAnalytics, set only with consent

The first cookie is needed for the site to remember your choice, so it’s set either way. The Google Analytics cookies are only set if you click “Accept”.

Since February 2026, UK law has allowed some analytics cookies to be used without asking first. The rules in the EU still require consent, and we have visitors from both, so we ask everyone the same question.

You can change your mind at any time through the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s opt-out add-on, which stops Google Analytics on every site you visit.

Who else handles your data

We use a small number of suppliers to run the website and our email. They handle personal data on our behalf, under contracts that only allow them to use it to provide their service to us.

  • 20i for website hosting, server logs, and email
  • Google, for Google Analytics, if you consent

We don’t sell personal data, and we don’t share it with anyone for their marketing. We’ll only disclose it to anyone else if the law requires us to.

Data outside the UK

Some of these suppliers, including Google, may process data in the United States or elsewhere outside the UK and the European Economic Area. Where they do, the transfer is covered either by a UK adequacy decision, such as the UK-US data bridge, or by the contract clauses that UK and EU data protection law require.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • ask us to correct anything that’s wrong
  • ask us to delete your data
  • ask us to restrict how we use it
  • object to us using it on the basis of legitimate interests
  • ask for your data in a format you can take to someone else
  • withdraw your consent to analytics cookies at any time

To use any of these rights, email privacy@ioteq.co. There’s no charge. We’ll reply within one month, and if a request is complicated we may need up to two more months, in which case we’ll tell you why within the first month.

Complaints

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please tell us first at privacy@ioteq.co. We’ll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and tell you what we’re doing about it.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. If you live in the EU, you can complain to the data protection authority in your own country.

Keeping your data secure

The site runs over an encrypted connection, and only the people at Ioteq Software who need to deal with your enquiry can see it. Our suppliers protect the data they hold under the terms of their contracts with us.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal data, for example by adding a new tool to the site, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If the change means a new type of cookie, we’ll ask for your consent again.
